Brief write up

Dave McNeil always wanted to work for himself. Plus, he always desired to work in a field that interested him.

“I have a degree in electrical engineering and have always been interested in solar energy,” McNeil, President of Hannah Solar Government Services, said.

The hardest part of making that dream of working for himself come true was learning the financial aspects of how businesses operate, McNeil said.  He describes his key to success as “never giving up,” so he did not let that stop him.

McNeil oversees all marketing, sales, installation and operations of Hannah Solar business with government agencies as well as commercial agencies operating on government installations.

A goal of Hannah Solar is to create individualized alternative energy solutions to fit identified needs that help corporations or citizens meet their sustainability goals.

McNeil said his proudest business moment came when he had the opportunity to give back to fellow veterans.

“We provided and installed a free solar power system for a 100 percent disabled Vietnam veteran as part of our Solar for Wounded Warriors Project of the Hannah Solar Foundation,” McNeil said.

An avid skydiver, McNeil said his personal motto is “If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space.”
