State Rep. Jarrod B. Martin (R-Beavercreek) introduced legislation to create opportunities for veteran-owned businesses in the state of Ohio.
The bill, co-sponsored by Rep. Raymond Pryor (D-Chillicothe), would require the Ohio Department of Administrative Services to establish procurement opportunities for veteran owned small businesses, making it easier for those who served their country to start up and grow their business.
“This bill will go a long way to honor the service of these entrepreneurs who have so bravely served our nation.” Martin said. “I hope this will send a strong message to veteran business owners looking to grow and expand that Ohio is a welcoming place for them, their business, and their families.”
The Department of Administrative Services currently operates procurement programs such as the Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and the Encouraging Diversity, Growth and Equity (EDGE). The legislation will add an additional opportunity that will be specifically for veterans’ businesses currently excluded from the state’s programs.
