NaVOBA member Mark Cashio, president of Sabre Construction, spearheaded legislation to make the Volunteer State more vetrepreneur-friendly. The legislation (House Bill 3252/Senate Bill 2785) will include veteran-owned businesses in the state’s small business program. The bill is currently being reviewed in the House Budget Committee.
We're encouraging all Tennessee veterans to reach out to their representatives and senators and insist this bill become law. Tell your friends and family to do the same. Currently, all state agencies are required to actively solicit bids and proposals for equipment, supplies, personal services, professional services, consulting services, construction contracts, and architectural and engineering services from minority- and woman-owned small businesses. This bill will include Tennessee’s deserving vetrepreneurs in those efforts.
