Falls Church, Va. - based DynCorp International takes creating contracting opportunities for veteran-owned businesses seriously with the vetrepreneur-friendly philosophy coming directly from the highest levels of the company.
“Veteran-owned businesses bring key expertise to our missions supporting defense, diplomacy and development initiatives around the world,” said DynCorp International Chairman and CEO Steve Gaffney. “The dedication and discipline they showed in their service to our country is also evident in their business practices, making veteran-owned businesses reliable, first-rate partners and suppliers.”
Debbie Newberry, DI’s small-business manager said DI prides itself on its work to support the small business community.
“We source and engage veteran-owned and service-disabled veteran-owned companies not only to meet contractual requirements as a prime contractor for the federal government, but because veterans bring unique technical skills and management expertise that support our customers’ needs,” Newberry said. “We take our responsibility to engage and utilize small businesses very seriously and do our best to provide veteran-owned and service-disabled veteran-owned companies, as well as all other small business categories, with opportunities for growth.”
This stellar performance earned DI its fifth honor gracing NaVOBA’s Best Corporations for Veteran-Owned Businesses list for 2011. DI recently expanded its outreach to veteran-owned small businesses by supporting its local procurement technical assistance center’s (PTAC) veteran’s initiative, which helped DI find more vetrepreneurs and also made those VOBs aware of more opportunities.
DI is specifically seeking qualified small businesses to provide services and supplies for outside of the continental United States (OCONUS) contracts.
“We encourage companies to enter their company profile in our supplier database,” Newberry said. “Those interested should include as much detail as possible in order to provide a good capability statement for their company. Once they have completed a profile, we encourage them to follow up with us to discuss further.”
Newberry said DI is currently developing strategic agreements for services and supplies. Small business concerns will be included in the bid process, including veteran and service-disabled veteran-owned businesses that are interested and capable of supporting requirements.
