While serving in the U.S. Air Force, Kenneth Kurk didn’t know the skills and values he was learning would one day become vital to his success as a vetrepreneur. But now that he is president and CEO of KGMA Business Solutions, he’s keenly aware of the military’s impact on his business acumen.
Failure is simply not an option for Kurk and he relied on his attitude to get hi business off the ground. “In the military, I was trained mentally and physically that I could overcome any adversity – you need to learn how to succeed,” he said, “That instilled in me the belief that you can’t be afraid of adversity, that you can overcome anything.”
It wasn’t the only lesson Kurk learned in the military. As a ground-based command and control operator in the Air Force, he served in five war campaigns in Kosovo and the Middle East. During this service in Afghanistan, he was able to assist in rebuilding the infrastructure including working on the road first concrete road, approximately 300 miles, to connect key cities in the country.
“It was a pretty big deal,” he said. “It not only allowed them to grow their economy, but it also connected many with their families and made it easier for them to visit their loved ones.”
KGMA assists businesses with services including long range opportunity forecasting, proposal development and management, sales and marketing management and capture management. Kurk said the way he felt while assisting the Afghanistan people fight the Taliban and develop their economy was unforgettable. He said helping his clients and their businesses succeed makes him feel even better.
