The August issue of National Guard magazine featured an article, authored by Fred Minninck, that describes how more and more Guardsmen are deciding the skills required for success in uniform also can be applied to running a business.
The article features NaVOBA member Staff Sgt. Edward Smith, who currently serves in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard and also owns and operates Sweet Appétit, an ice cream parlor and restaurant in Pleasant Hills, Pa.
According to the article, Smith is among a growing number of Guardsmen taking the entrepreneurial leap.
