Pittsburgh City Councilwoman Theresa Kail-Smith, along with Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl, aim to make Pittsburgh the newest vetrepreneur-friendly city. The duo introduced a bill that would ensure small veteran-owned businesses get their fair share of city spending today.
The bill, will set a target for city departments to make at least 5 percent of purchases with veteran-owned firms that employ 100 people or less. It would also require city contracting officials to make special efforts to educate these vetrepreneurs on how they can do business with the city. In addition, the bill would modify or waive performance bonds on some city projects.
Is your city vetrepreneur friendly? If it's not, it should be. Send an email to localtracker@NAVOBA.COM to let us know where your city stands.
