The NaVOBA Corporate Advocacy team has had a banner year in 2010. Since 2007 there has been a 50 percent increase in the number of FORTUNE 1000 firms that include veteran-owned businesses as preferred suppliers in the procurement efforts – and 2010 has been the best year yet! NaVOBA has welcomed Walgreens, TriWest Healthcare Alliance, Pitney Bowes, Life Technologies, IAP Worldwide Services, DuPont, Continental Airlines, Cardinal Health, ADP, Novo Nordisk, ADM and Humana Veterans Healthcare as new Corporate Members – and we may have 2 more before the end of the year!
We have also seen a dramatic increase in participation and membership on NaVOBA’s Corporate Advisory Council (CAC). The CAC’s mission is to maintain a continued dialogue between supplier diversity executives from NaVOBA’s Corporate Members and the NaVOBA team to share best practices and ideas to create more opportunities for veteran-owned businesses looking partner with large corporations as suppliers. We had the largest participation ever for the final meeting of 2010 with more than 30 representatives from our Corporate Members joining the conversation and sharing ideas.
The new and improved NaVOBA.com website is also very exciting. It’s packed with tools and valuable resources, an “ask the experts” feature, forums for VOBs to network and connect and tips and blogs from NaVOBA’a senior leadership.
Most importantly, the new site will feature a one-of-a-kind tool for major corporations looking to purchase products and services from VOBs to post requests for proposals (RFPs). Now, NaVOBA members will have an easy way to find corporate contracting opportunities to help their businesses grow and corporations can have an easy way to find the VOBs they seek.

I would also like to welcome our newest 3 star corporate member, Humana Veterans Healthcare Services.
Humana Veterans Healthcare Services provides health care solutions to veterans of the Uniformed Services when their needs cannot be met within the confines of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers (VAMCs). To succeed in the mission of furnishing lifelong well-being for our veterans and their families, Humana seeks Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB) and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) partners to deliver goods and services. To achieve optimal supplier participation, Humana Veterans focuses on educating suppliers on their procurement process.
If your business is interested in teaming with Humana Veterans, please consider the following:
Are you familiar with Humana Veterans' core competencies, and do your competencies complement its line of business?
Does your business possess solid past performance with Humana Veterans, another prime contractor, the procuring agency, or another government agency?
If your VOB or SDVOB meets these pre-qualifiers, please submit a package to Humana Veterans' Small Business Liaison Officer (SBLO) Contact:
