John Napier

NaVOBA Celebrates John Napier, one of America’s Warrior-Olympians

Sgt. John Napier is a 23-year-old member of the Vermont National Guard. Unlike many of his fellow soldiers, Napier is a world class bobsledder and represented America in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Unlike many of his fellow Olympians, Napier won’t be going home after the Games. He requested to go to Afghanistan when the Olympics are over to join other members of his Guard unit.

"They're doing their duty and I want to do mine," Napier said in a recent interview with ESPN. "I want to be with them. If I were on a four-man [bobsled team] and three of them were at the Olympics and I wasn't, it wouldn't feel right. I'd want to be there. We're a team."
