Marcea Weiss, Veteran Business Advocate - NorthMarcea Weiss Pic

As a veteran business advocate for NaVOBA, Marcea Weiss is responsible for promoting the value of “Buy Veteran” to corporate America. Marcea’s distinguished background permits her to present a cogent business case for using veteran-owned businesses as suppliers. Understanding and finding innovative ways to satisfy customers’ needs has always been a top priority for Marcea. This focus on customer value, coupled with her passion for accelerating the veteran-owned business movement, enable her to uniquely market veteran-owned businesses to corporate America.

Upon graduation from the University of Miami in 1994, Marcea was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. She brought her athletic talents as a Division I collegiate athlete to bear for the Army, entering  military the World Class Athlete Program (WCAP), representing the Army at national rowing (sculling) events and placing second at the 1995 Pan Am Games. Following completion of flight school in 1996, Marcea spent seven years test flying and maintaining Black Hawk (UH-60) helicopters in two divisional infantry units including the 25th Infantry Division “Tropic Lightning” out of Hawaii and the First Infantry Division “Big Red One” out of Germany. Marcea was the only person to successfully challenge the UH-60 Maintenance Test Pilot Course. She was awarded two Army Commendation Medals and two Overseas Service Ribbons during her distinguished nine year military career.

Prior to joining NaVOBA, Marcea worked at GE where she worked as an internal Lean Six Sigma process improvement consultant with the company's Sales and Marketing, Field Service and IT organizations. Marcea was identified early in her career at GE as “Top Talent,” an almost unheard of accomplishment for GE team members. Prior to GE, Marcea worked as a hiring and development manager for Cypress Semiconductor in Silicon Valley where she recruited, hired and developed new college graduates and JMOs (junior military officers) to take roles in the sales and marketing organization. Marcea has participated in and led many process improvement initiatives to include: Lean, 8D, Six Sigma and TQM. She is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. In her “spare” time, Marcea has also authored a yet to be published book on transitioning out of the military and into the civilian workforce.

Marcea holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Miami where she graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate (DMG) and was captain and MVP of the rowing team. She also holds an MBA from the University of Phoenix, Honolulu. Marcea is an avid recreational pilot holding FAA ratings for Commercial Rotary Wing Instrument Aircraft and Private Fixed Wing Instrument Aircraft.
